JULY - SEPTEMBER 2025
"Broken bones shall rejoice."
Psalm 51
We cannot say that days are the same here, yet there is one thing that is common to all, simplicity. We do not aspire to extraordinary things, but from the ordinary, and, sometimes from the small and clumsy, we yearn to love.
The mission is summed up in the hope that Love can heal and soothe, give hope and gladden broken hearts.
This space is a small window so that you can look into the Mission, because you are part of it, in spirit, material help, friendship and prayer.
As great news we have the joy that in a few months we will receive a new baby IM, the third child of Gloria and Lucas.
During the last 3 months we have received about 20 temporary missionaries from Mexico, USA, Colombia and Spain. A very enriching experience for everyone. Young people, families with children, grandparents... come for a minimum of 15 days and accompany us in everything we do, and also contribute a lot according to their talents, some giving extra music lessons, others helping in the maintenance of the Mission Center, supporting IMPULSA, visiting families... they live with us and become part of this community. We want to thank each one for their contribution during this time, their generosity and openness.
PROJECTS
We have been working hard to improve the organization of our projects. In order to be orderly and effective we have tried to encompass almost everything we do in 5 main areas:
RESTAURA
Everything that has to do with psychological, spiritual and human accompaniment, both through personalized appointments, support groups, training etc. .... Under this umbrella is the psychological accompaniment, sexual abuse workshop, Pro Woman, Peace Circles, Generation Courageous Project and the weekly visits we make to the different families.
FORGE
It encompasses the entire sports area, which aims to forge a generation with values, with a spirit of healthy competitiveness and effort, who feel part of a team and develop the best of each one of them. Ignis Boxing, Soccer, Ignis Skate, Taekwondo, Volleyball and Ignis FIt are part of FORJA. Undoubtedly our project with the largest number of participants.
IMPULSA
Impulsa is Ignis Mundi's educational project that seeks to "push" students to have a positive educational experience and support different needs in the academic field, we currently offer different programs.
CREA
Project focused on the development of artistic skills of the participants, ensuring a healthy and peaceful environment, where they can learn both painting techniques and music. Currently we have a painting workshop and guitar classes.
DIGNIFIES
Home Dignification Project, so far we have been able to help 3 families and a public space, but we are confident that this will be one of the major projects that we will carry out, and we hope that it can not only dignify homes, but an entire neighborhood.
CAMP
During the first two weeks of July, we organized a camp for children from 4 to 12 years old. Around 70 children participated, the activities revolved around nature, sports and art: visit to the vegetable garden, cleaning the chicken coop, gardening, soccer, taekwondo, swimming pool and water games, painting, crafts, dances and lots of fun. All around the search for the fire of Love, with dynamics, songs and games dedicated to it.
An unforgettable experience for everyone and a free alternative for parents in the community who are still working and cannot take care of their children during the vacations.
WORKSHOP FOR VICTIMS OF SEXUAL ABUSE
"While I was silent, my bones grew old."
Eight women participated in this first workshop on abuse. We estimate that around 80% of the people we work with have been, or are victims of some type of sexual abuse.
It is really a big problem in our environment, and in society in general. The consequences of abuse affect entire families and condition the lives of many people.
That is why we had a long-standing desire to work in this area.
WORKSHOP AND SEWING CLUB
Taking advantage of the visit of María Valdeomillos, temporary missionary and dressmaker, we organized a sewing workshop in September, which was a resounding success. Aware that these creative spaces are needed, where people can also come to share, chat, drink coffee and learn, in October we opened the Embroidery and Sewing Club, a biweekly space to share the love for sewing and to build community.
MEDICAL OFFICE
For two months we will be visited daily by nursing students from UCR who are having pediatric consultations.
VISITS
Weekly we visit at least 2 families in their homes. These visits not only help us to deepen our personal ties with the people, but it opens us to the reality they live every day, opening our eyes to the needs of this place.
Each visit is a miracle of love, where we share, laugh, cry, sing, pray, talk and listen. Walking through the streets of the neighborhood also makes us present beyond our borders, taking the Fire of God's Love beyond the IM Center.
SPECIAL EVENTS
Our solidarity cafeteria has become throughout the months a meeting point for families and friends who come looking for a beautiful place, at good prices, where their children can play happily and where they can enjoy themselves. In our efforts to make this place everyone's home and an open home, we had several special celebrations for Father's Day, Mother's Day and Independence Day .
In addition to continuing to grow our different foods, pineapple, cassava, papaya, zucchini... The Ignis Mundi family has grown, we now have a small farm with 2 ducks and a rooster, a hen and 3 chicks. All this is entertainment for the children, which also helps them to promote care for nature, sensitivity for life, respect and gentleness.
IGNIS MUNDI ROAD
Camino de Fuego y Victoria to promote a current of pilgrimage in the world that is a source of spirituality and mission. With this desire, this road is born, which as a first step, aims to unite all the cardinal points of Costa Rica, with Los Guido, the neighborhood where the first IM Mission center is located, thus placing it on the map of the country for a beautiful and meaningful cause.
For 15 days, Edu traveled the 310 kilometers that separate the jungle of Corcovado, in the south of the country, and the most biodiverse jungle in the world, with Los Guido. Traveling through jungle, beaches, mangroves, gulfs, mountains and valleys, living by providence, and carrying a message of love, faith and hope.
An unforgettable experience that we will return to next year.
TESTIMONIALS
From the classes that my daughter receives at Impulsa I get the tranquility and peace that I needed.
I feel more confident to work with Brittanny at home to give her confidence that she can make it.
Being here (IM) is what we both needed to give her the support she was always looking for and I have found in Brittany and Mariana, her teachers. My daughter is very happy to be here and is looking forward to Wednesday.
Seeing the mountains and feeling that God is at work with Brittany through the classes makes us as a family happy."
- Bri's mother, Impulsa student.
"In Ignis Mundi, I have been able to find God in many places, but where He has been most present; in the Kairos. Something as special and profound as accompanying others in their pain should be more common. The listening and empathy of each permanent missionary is an example for me.
I recommend having the experience of temporary missionary for many reasons, the welcome, the affection, the unconditional surrender, the simplicity and the little attachment to material things. These qualities/values are difficult to find in my society. There it was the natural and common."
- Mary , temporary missionary
"Thanks to Ignis Mundi and its psychological approach my life has changed, I have changed, I have learned to see life from a different point of view and they have taught me to manage my emotions to such an extent that my reactions to life situations have been improving.
What I like most is to have a safe place where we can find friends, companions, where we can live healthy experiences and I also like their programs and how much they care about my community and how well they receive us, always with joy and love and of course Ignis Mundi has contributed much to my closeness to God, once praying God told me that they would come from other nations to bless me and they came and their mission, thank you from the bottom of my heart".
- Givanella , Restaura
"Guitar is a new hobby for me, something I enjoy a lot, it's something I like to do. What I like most about coming to MI are the people here, they are very nice people. It feels very warm to come here. It feels like a safe space to be¨
- Sinny Morera Angulo, 15 years old, guitar student
"I have gone through difficult times in my life, but boxing has helped me to get ahead. I have been training for many years and thanks to Ignis Mundi we now have a worthy space to do it. I am very happy because I managed to qualify for the National Games, thus fulfilling a complete process that allows me to close a cycle and dream of becoming a professional boxer.
Just a week ago I had my first professional fight in an evening, where I managed to beat another boxer, a national preselected boxer with a lot of experience, and I was still able to win the fight. That experience fills me with motivation to keep growing. My main goal is to consolidate myself as a professional boxer and, hopefully, to be able to compete in the Olympic Games. I am convinced that the discipline that boxing has given me will open doors for a better future."
- Sakhur Luna, Ignis Boxing
"Ignis Mundi means something very special to me. It is not only a place where we practice sports, but a space that has taught me discipline, respect and how to treat people better. Since this project began in Los Guido, it has been the best thing that could come to our community.
Thanks to Ignis Mundi, many young people have found an opportunity to improve themselves, get away from bad habits and grow as people. I have seen how my classmates have changed their lives, even getting off drugs, because here we are received with love, they listen to us and support us.
For me, Ignis Mundi is a place of peace, learning and reflection. I thank from the bottom of my heart the entire Misionera family and all the people who make this project possible. They have not only given us a space to play sports, but also a family that inspires us to be better every day."
- Steven Daniel Santa Maria, Ignis Boxing
"The painting class gives me knowledge and an emotional release. It is incredible the relationship with the missionaries who do not look at who I am, they give me and transmit a peace that surpasses all understanding, increasing my FAITH.
For me, it brings me to value and learn about the tools to create art with nature and sharing.
What I like most is to share the Peace and Harmony that your Missionary Families give us in an atmosphere of Love and Friendship, with Dedication, Humanity and Faith".
- Viviana and Guillermo, Painting Classes
"The most beautiful part of our experience in IM was living with the missionary families who opened their homes and hearts to us, which was precious. The visit to the humble families and the kairos brought us closer to the mercy of God.
We would recommend having the experience of temporary missionaries because of the Love that is breathed in the whole community. Because in IM it becomes a reality that another way of living is possible; putting the heart in everything you do. You discover that the greatest things are hidden in the simplest things. IM is a testimony of life given to others and light for the world.
A thousand thanks for so much!!!"
- Rey de Olano family, temporary missionaries
